Susann Bosshard-Kälin

Journalist, author and initiator of the project "Einsiedeln elsewhere".

Susann Bosshard-Kaelin is a journalist BR and author of fact books from Egg near Einsiedeln. She realized numerous book projects in Switzerland and abroad such as Westward. Encounters with Swiss American Women; Emigrant Paths – Encounters with 20th Century Swiss Americans, and also Beruf Bäuerin, or Im Fahr – Nuns Tell About Their Lives.

On a journalistic journey for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung to St. Meinrad, Indiana, a foundation of the Benedictine Monastery of Einsiedeln, she accidentally met eight descendants of immigrants from Einsiedeln. They were living in neighboring Louisville. They told her that their ancestors had emigrated in the 19th century to the United States and had settled in one city, in Louisville, Kentucky. In Einsiedeln nobody spoke of those emigrants.

Susann Bosshard-Kälin's curiosity was aroused, and she therefore began in 2015 the multi-media project "Einsiedeln elsewhere" with great enthusiasm and pleasure, a first of its kind in Canton Schwyz.

The journalist is living in Egg, likes not only the USA, Georgia O'Keefe and her art, but also Einsiedler "Häliböck", a kind of Keks, as well as Swiss museums.
